How it works

To improve your site, we need to be able to make changes on it. How we do that depends on what your website is built with. Find yours below - it only takes a few minutes.

Whatever your site runs on, every change goes through the same check. A person on our team reviews it before it goes live, and we keep a copy of what was there before, so any change can be put back. The only difference is whether our system makes the change, or a person on our team does.

Not sure what your website is built with? Email us your web address at [email protected] and we will check for you.

WordPress

The fastest option. Most of our changes happen automatically.

Step 1: Install our helper plugin

  1. Download the plugin: seo-agency-companion.zip. Do not unzip it.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins, then Add New Plugin, then Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the file, click Install Now, then Activate.

The plugin lets our system update your page titles, descriptions and social sharing previews through your SEO plugin (Yoast SEO, Rank Math or SEOPress). It does not send your information anywhere, and you can remove it at any time from the Plugins page. Social sharing previews currently need Yoast SEO - on Rank Math or SEOPress we make those by hand.

Step 2: Create a password just for us

  1. Go to Users, then Profile.
  2. Scroll down to Application Passwords. Type Wizard of Outreach as the name and click Add New Application Password.
  3. Copy the password it shows. WordPress only shows it once.

This is a separate password for us only. It is not your own login password, and you can cancel it on the same screen at any time.

Step 3: Send us the details

Send us your website address, your WordPress username and the new password. If that password is ever exposed, just delete it on your Profile page and make a new one.

Shopify

Our team makes the changes by hand on your store.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Users, then Add users.
  2. Enter [email protected].
  3. Give access to Online Store (themes, pages and blog posts), then send the invite.

Some Shopify plans limit how many staff accounts you can have. Shopify's guide: Users and permissions.

Wix

Our team makes the changes by hand on your site.

  1. In your site dashboard, go to Settings, then Roles & Permissions.
  2. Click Invite Collaborators and enter [email protected].
  3. Tick the Website Manager role and send the invite.

Your Wix plan sets how many collaborators you can invite. Wix's guide: Inviting people to collaborate on your site.

Squarespace

Our team makes the changes by hand on your site.

  1. Open the Permissions & Ownership panel and click Invite Contributor.
  2. Enter [email protected] and switch on Website Editor.
  3. Send the invite.

The Basic and Personal plans allow one extra person on your site. A Website Editor cannot add new pages, so if a new page would help we will check with you first. Squarespace's guide: Invite a contributor.

Webflow

Our team makes the changes by hand on your site.

  1. Open your site in Webflow and click Share in the top bar.
  2. Enter [email protected] and choose the Content editor role.
  3. Send the invite.

On Webflow, most roles use a paid seat on your workspace. Webflow's guide: Invite new workspace members.

Ghost

New articles can be added automatically. Other changes are made by hand by our team.

Step 1: Create a connection for new articles

  1. In Ghost Admin, go to Settings, then Integrations.
  2. Click Add custom integration and name it Wizard of Outreach.
  3. Send us the Admin API key and the API URL it shows. Please send the Admin API key, not the shorter Content API key.

Step 2: Invite us for everything else

  1. Go to Settings, then Staff, then Invite people.
  2. Enter [email protected], choose the Editor role and send the invite.

You can delete the integration or remove us from Staff at any time. Ghost's guide: Admin API.

Built by a developer, or something else

If your site was custom built, or runs on something not listed here, we can still work on it. Either give us a login if your site has one, or send us your developer's contact details. We then send them a clear list for each change: the page, what to change, and what to change it to.
